Ahh the thrill of a well delivered shock treatment.
with all the recent rains there are a lot of places for
mosquitos to meet and mate in our area.
But there is only one true hot spot where they
can meet their final glorious sparking demise.
ZZZaaapppppppp!! zap zap
I splurged and got the $22 "joy juicer" from Home Depot
after seeing how well it worked in a friends yard.
You know what? It's better than most summer TV shows.
The blue light is so sexy, so irresistable I almost get pulled in myself!
The metal grid carries huge amounts of death rays
and showers them on the unsuspecting victims.
The kill is intended for Mosquitos Most Bothersome ( latin name)
but there are some big guys that work their way onto the toaster.
When they do, the lights in the house dim and outside the sparks fly!!
CRRRRackkkkkle Snap snap POP!
I cackle my evilest laugh and dance around as the mechanics of man
overcomes his environmental adversaries. I am in charge here!
Can you tell the writer is having a really bad day and covering it up?

We are leaving in a few minutes
I am going to my son's college orientation for the day.
I feel like I am giving up a part of me.
This year when school starts back up I will have two
superb sons in college and Hannah will be a freshman in HS.
I'm glad I am awake to feel all the emotions that go with this.
Years ago I was just surviving, and barely, and there were plenty
of days, and events where dad barely showed up, had his own gigantic challenges
and was in bad shape emotionally.
When you are already a wreck and something hits you, its not a big deal
When you work to get your emotional life in order
the impact is felt fully, as in yesterday - giving up my cat.
While prepared, I was hit by a flood of real tears
and saw again the passing of time and the march of calendar pages
even if I am not the one turning them.
So off to college I go again,
I am much smarter this time,
more handsome and way better equipped than 30 years ago.
Today - I enjoy the pull of the future
and don't get stuck in what could have been in the past.

Cat on life support
Hi, I'm David, and I am a cat owner.
It iss true that he really calls the shots
but he lets me keep the title "Owner"
because it makes me feel good.
Patches has been with us a long time
since Hannah was 4 - Ten years ago.
He was not always a cool cat
I can remenber him scratching
at us, and living outside mostly
when we had the "Big place", and the house
was run by a dog (Can you imagine!!!)
He has out lasted all the dogs
and ten cars, he has mellowed
and I have grown in my affection and
need for him. He likes to lay in the middle of my chest
while I (try) to read. He likes to rub his face against mine
and I like it too.
Since January I have been injecting insulin to
help him with his diabetes.
This is not my thing, nor does it fit
my animal ownership philosophy or financial plan.
All the dogs cost money once or twice at the vet
but it took a long time to pay off.
At some point you say to the dog in your best
and most caring way, "I can't afford this and I wont do this to you"
I am not into long life for long life sake if
the quality is low ( I will change this view when I get near the end)
My cat is getting near the end.
His new nick name is Flop, because
he walks a little, with very unstable steps,
and then you hear this Whomp! as his 16 lbs hits the floor
Well Flop has not responded well to the insulin
and I am not the best at giving it to him
exactly every twelve hours, we are trying a different dose
and have moved his cat box downstairs so he does not have to climb upstairs
to pee. He drinks a LOT if water and fills the litter box
because his system is dumping a lot of something into his urine.
So someday soon we are taking the last ride to my terrific
and caring vet Dr. Kim.
Patches will be a part of our history.
I need to go thru this. It is a part of life that I
am learning about, slowly, and preparing in some way
for my own trip to the vet. Hopefully I have a few good years
and they will pet me and kiss me and tell me what a good guy
I have been before the pink stuff flows and I close my eyes.
I am sad, you can tell.

THREE THINGS THAT WE MUST THINK ABOUT IN 2005
COWS, THE CONSTITUTION, AND THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
Cows
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our
government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right
to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And, they
tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are
unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our
country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.
The Constitution
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why
don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart
guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.
The Ten Commandments
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a
Courthouse........You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt
Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of
lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile work environment.

Who is in charge here, anyway?
I know there are successful people out there.
I think I used to be one of them.
They manage their work, have marriages
and keep a check book register.
They use and don't abuse their credit card(s).
They connect to the world in a real way without drugs
or drinking too much, giving and receiving the good
things and passing on the high calorie, high cholesterol,
gonna kill you sugary and then too salty drama
that fuels so much of what makes the news and the tabloids.
How can I be abnormal? I am the center of what is real for me.
I am writer and director, actor and editor of my life.
This is it - not a dress rehearsal, not a practice game, not
something to fill the time until there is enough.
When do you think there will be enough?
Enough energy, money and time to do all the cool things
I dream of! That is a lot of EMT (energy money time).
I am sure other writer/ actor/ directors are asking a similar
question this morning. lets listen in for moment:
"what was I thinking when I wrote that?" from script expert
"NO NO NO! dont lean in toward him when he tries to kiss you,'
recoil in horror, imagine he is a two headed alien", Says your director
actor: I so am not into this! I so am not liking this. I am disgusted by
the very though of this, a two headed alien trying is to kiss me.
I should run, where is my fight or flight mechanism? I am paralyzed.
(smooch) Yuk
director: CUT lets try this AGAIN!
