after a really long week I headed to the Village theater for two hours of distraction, I got more than I bargained for.
Knowing
Thankfully I like Nicolas Cage and he was paired with decent costars so that acting was ummm acceptable ( i know nothing about acting except what I learned in High school drama club. )
I guess my complaint is with the utter simplicity of the writing, and the underlying premise.
Perhaps I was uncomfortable in my comfy reclining movie chair because the story seemed to LEAVE GOD OUT, and in fact to specifically make aliens our savior.
For those who have read The Book, the ending IS really messy,
but you don't have to go through it.
I won't belabor that point here, write me if you wish to discuss it, I am a good conversationalist.
The LOGIC thing is what I just can't suspend, and so it really gets me in trouble.
HELLO?
If your spacecraft is capable of interstellar travel why does it take 15 minutes to fold up for take off? Why is your elevator slower than anything Otis ever made?
OK here is the big one, for you big brained aliens who KNOW our future perfectly;
Why wait until a few hours before the end of the earth to save us??? huh Huh?
I got you now! Dummies, Stupido buffoons.
If you knew about this for so long how come you waited so long to move the new Adam and Eve to the next place? and while I am at it, why bring a bunch of two seater space ships when you could have made a special school bus sized Cargo ship so we could all have fun sharing cupcakes and juice boxes on our journey?
I have more, but even I am tired or reading this sillyness.
Go - have a nice day, God is in control.

carstyle
Yesterday was an easy ( but long) drive
I guess I put on about 300 miles over 12 hours
and yes I did get to lay on the beach ( more about that later)
Today I feel like a shut in ( no offense to actual shut ins)
listening to my churches service on the net.
The snow isn't all that much but the baby car tires are almost bald and I do not want to meet the spring break idiots that most certainly are out there terrorizing the highways. I will stay home and make plans for all the yummy stuff I got at Trader Joe's.
7 pm update - mom is well rebounded from her long day
and the Trader Joe goodies are getting hit hard.

Good news, bad news
Prompt: man on beach taking video of kids at waters' edge.
Brother: the good news is that you just got a shot that would certainly get you into the finals at Americas Funniest videos.
The bad news is that your wife ( i suppose by the look she gave you) Hates that you seem to have almost let your toddlers drown in the pacific ocean, for the sake of getting a cute shot of them getting their feet wet.
CLUE4yoo: while one eye is in the view finder, the other eye is supposed to be looking off to the right, where the WAVES are coming from. Then you can at least shout a warning to the toddlers or your designer jeans wife in her jimmy choo's. Letting the two little girls get whacked by the wave, and soaked to the skin just earned you a week sleeping on the couch.
Her captured remark
(if I did not go, no one would have heard this)
"Don't ever listen to your father ( kids are wailing and wet)
He will let you get killed"
Do not ever do what he says!"
Carrying youngest (2) up the beach to the car,
GLARING at the criminally neglectful father

road trip
it is settled
I will be non-blogging from Laguna Beach today.
taking books, and pad of paper, pen, weird sunglasses
and my camera
and a healthy dose of " I don't give a crap about Washington DC" with me.
OK I will wear a set of swim trunks
( who says I can't conform?)

first day of Spring
I worked really steadily this winter to keep my physical strength and mental health and I am so happy to arrive at the is first day of the new season in GOOD shape.
Not great, but certainly better than previous years when I came out of hibernation.
This winter was the first for me as full time at mom's doing care service.
It was the most snow we have had in 5 years or more.
I managed to kayak in the months of November, January, February and now March.
I now have the challenge of clearing out my old place and moving what I want to keep into storage and dumping the rest of it. This is hard for me; both to do the physical, on site packing and moving (again) and the emotional work of letting a lot of stuff/ memories go.
I have longer days and warmer nights to help, less firewood to carry/ stack/ burn, more friends to spend time with. I just need to buckle down, and do it.

If you can't say somethin' nice...
I figured I should check in to let you know I am not dead
Other than that, I have little that is news worthy.
I am trying to ration my time on the computer so I can get more done in the 'real' world.
Kayaking is on hold for a few days, also
:-(
I am trying not to grump at you,
so I will just be quiet.....

Final exam?
please pray for me
I am trying to do something that is very challenging and not very rewarding
( if you know me, or if you are like me, I usually pick things that are very rewarding and not too challenging)
So this is a good test of what God has put inside me.
perhaps a test also of how much of God I have incorporated into my life.
I am blessed to have praying friends like you.
I am blessed
I do not take lightly that God gave me this blog
and this voice, and this heart to cry out for healing
for deliverance and complete restoration
of a very wounded soul.
Be with me Father, God.

I Dare you
tell me where this guy is wrong.
try this and see if it works for you
( get over his accent and silly hair)
I have three of us getting results so far
Why not you?
Only you know how messed up you are,
which is lucky for the rest of us.
Only you can be responsible to get your stuff
taken care of - - - - like Now.

All the best.

Monday meddle
confession:
mostly I never Know what I am going to post.
it was a roller coaster weekend here
down up down up.
I take care of myself
in all this
I find time, make time to
get outside
exercise and recreate so that part of me is happy
I also worship and try to understand a small part of God's written wisdom
so that my life has His meaning written on it.

Sunday-go-to-meetin'
I L O V E the way the internet links me to new things I never knew about.
An email service on news containing the word "Israel" takes me to one site, but the article linked is less interesting than an add in the side bar. I click and am introduced to the JONAH
page and stories of people who turned their life around in the context of their Judaism.
Another amazing discovery has been Tapping
I am a novice at it, but I believe it works well, and for anyone.
take a look at tapping dot com
I am not linking anything today,
I have to leave some work for you,
and the boys at Google.
God bless, I have to race if I will make the 10:30 service at Calvary Chapel
The post before was mostly creative writing, don't worry about me.
I am not that near the edge ( today) Shalom
-------------update 8pm pacific DAYLIGHT time --------
I was late for church due to home duties, BUT
I got to listen to my pastor in real time, broadcast on the local FM
while I was driving. I walked in an hour late
and just looked like I did not know about the time change thing, hehe

a whole string of bad words
have you ever waited for something you did not want?
waited for it to happen
or for a letter to come that was NOT WELCOME.
ever had a black and white behind you and WAITED for the red lights to come on?
(I will bet Sage and Russ know all about that)
this is more personal, closer to home. I shall continue to allude.
What is this feeling, dreading, expecting, KNOWING
that around the corner is a scene I do not want to be in
a role I do not want to act out
Just over the next rise in the road is a tanker truck, barreling toward you in your lane
and the driver can not see you. The oaths your mouth would utter become a silent scream as they are obliterated by his massive air horn blasting.
The book you are reading is headed in a terrible direction and you can not put it down.
you have skied hard all day and are tired, but following a friend, you crest a cornice and the bottom falls out, leaving you airborne and out of control, a hard landing is the best youcan hope for , but a trip to the bone setter is more likely.
Thankfully none of that is going to happen, but damn, it feels like i am swimming hard left in a swirl going right. Right down the toilet bowl.

Mish mash - Friday fish wrap*
book update:
Horse whisperer is moving along nicely
Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" is waiting in the wings
I found the Audubon society's guide to water birds at a thrift store for $.50
I was down yesterday, I promise not to let that happen today.
It helps to have good friends to talk it through.
and plan imaginary trips to tropical islands.
Although I could probably use an imaginary friend to take along to a real island.
What was that movie with Harvey the rabbit?
oh well, tea water has boiled, I will update this later
Yes, Sleepypete- I was impressed by the movie Defiance and the people whose story it told.
I am adding you to my blogroll, anyone else want to be on board?
* fishwrap is what I call the newspaper, although some use it for bird cage liner.

Tonight is cheapo night at the local movie theater
five bucks, I can not pass that up.
Wishing you all well, and God's blessings.
---------------------------
Update: bobkat, I went to see "DOUBT" with the amazing Meryl Streep
if I stay awake I may go see "Defiance" tonight.

what do you do when you...
What do you do when you can't write something for your blog:
I expect that YOU will have other solutions, but here are a few of mine:
1. Copy and paste from Joke of the Day
2. Link to a blogfriend who is still writing good stuff
3. Take a day off, and read a book ( you know, those paper things?)
4. Find a video or music from yoo toob to post
5. Go into the archives and bring forward a poem or story for the past
6. Join in with photo hunters or camera critters
7. post a list of things ( oops, I gave myself away!)
