my home is a gross polluter. the chimney belches wood smoke all winter long.
but we are very warm, and we leave some extra natural gas in the pipeline for the rest of you.
wood burning does not always seem to make sense, its messy inside and out, its slow to bring heat to the home unlike the big blaster furnaces that many are used to. there is no thermostat, so you have to be willing to get out of bed at 2 or 3am to feed the stove, but then i usually need to get up once a night anyway.
On the other hand, I clean my part of the forest of downed limbs and dead trees, and i recycle hundreds of pounds of scrap lumber every season that would have gone into a landfill. Every year the forest sheds way more wood than we humans can burn, but if we let the regulators have their way, pretty soon it will be against the law to burn wood in your own home. does this seem wrong to anyone else?

My home has clean electric heat that I can't afford to turn on! I'd love to have a wood stove- so much free dead wood across in the woods too...
No place for a hearth or flue in here.

I'm cold, so wear many layers, n put hot kettle water in jars in the chair corners or hold, then get Mischief here under the blanket to be comfy.

Really tho I just finished this month paying for last winter's heat- almost $2k.
Of course someone wants the wood-burners to pay them too! Hope that rule doesn't pass!
