Wow, David, this is fantastic. I don't recognize this. Boulder Bay? Those are beautiful shots.

Oh my GOD is this a beautiful sequence. Herons have always struck me as such graceful beings...whether moving or standing still, they always make me catch my breath just a little when I first see them.

Getting inspirational pictures of them has always eluded me. Thankfully you've succeeded here. What a wonderful way to mark this great milestone. Our luck to have had you share yourself and inspire us for 1,000 posts. May there be thousands more in our collective future.

Tanya agrees, which is why she asked me to say hello on this delightfully long weekend of ours.

Ok, I came to see the blue heron...and you caught it in flight! Magnificent, what a sight-

Gorgeous bird, n great shots of the Great Blue Heron- wow-!! the closer pic is so cool- can see his fluffy chest feathers-
Weren't you lucky being in the right place at the right time?! You must be very quiet not to disturb them, too, they're very shy.

Strange how a bird that big can master flight. I always get surprized at the size of the wing-span when they fly over-head- casting a large shadow usually unnoticed for other birds.

What a beautiful bird, david - and such lovely photos; taken from the comfort of your kayak seat :-)

I particularly like the third photo :-)

I just love these photos, especially the one of the heron looking out from the rock.
