in the morning

In the dark I waited
braced against the winters chill
In the walkway, gated
to gain again that thrill.

Shall I see thee rising
putting on thy robe
in my windows glazing
Reflect the earthen globe

From the east she shows herself
painted and unashamed
None of the weariness of age
Her youthfullness could tame

The melting of the cold in fire
upon a mountain hearth
waking in me, my own desire
To have my fill of mirth

I'll not see this blazing fire twice
nor love any more than now
The day before me does entice
to refuse, I know not how

Beautiful! Both - the words and the picture.

Very nice poem. Personally I feel more of those emotions about the sunset than the sunrise though. I'm such a night owl!

Great writing!

There's a Mount Sugarloaf near my house. That's weird since you live in California and I live in Massachusetts.
